The City of Chattanooga and Hamilton County unified school district offers a diverse and progressive educational experience. The district recently received a grant from the Carnegie Foundation for new and innovative programs in secondary education. Two new downtown magnet schools opened in recent years to rave reviews. Other magnet programs flourish and area students have the ability to attend museum, performing arts, visual arts, science or other magnet schools. In addition, Chattanooga is home to three of the top private preparatory schools in the nation.
