204 Studios, the area’s most technologically advanced photography group, has been creating, designing, producing and hosting media since 1997. Owned by James Schoomaker, the company was founded in North Georgia to fill a need in the marketplace for creative services and has been thriving ever since. After five successful years, 204 decided to focus its services on its commercial studio in 2001.
"We enjoyed working out of North Georgia," Schoomaker says. "However, as our company grew, we saw the opportunities that Chattanooga, and specifically the North shore area, had to offer our business."
As part of 204’s shift, Jim Madden, a local photographer with over 22 years in the Chattanooga marketplace, joined the company. Shortly thereafter, 204 Studios purchased a lot in North Chattanooga in 2002. With the aid of the SBA and SunTrust Bank the company was able to build what has become the largest most state-of-the-art studio in the area.
"The future of 204 Studios is based on the core businesses of this area and the relationships we have established," Schoomaker says. "I never see us leaving this great community."
204’s new facility boasts over 7,000 square feet and houses two studios. The main studio is 50 x 50 feet with a 20-foot ceiling, ground-level loading door, and a 40-foot infinity wall. They are fully wired for the digital age with a category 5E network and DSL service and the latest computers and software. Schoomaker and Madden can shoot any format their customers choose from 35mm, 2 1/4, 4 x 5 and 8 x 10 to digital. Digital photography is the studio’s main focus, and Schoomaker explains that they shoot with the latest Phase One H20 digital capture back. "This technology allows us to capture the highest quality images of any studio in this market," he says.
204 Studios clients include many area advertising agencies and business in the North Georgia and Chattanooga area. Including Shaw Industries, Mohawk, Unum Provident, Hutcheson, Litespeed, NK, Brach Candy, Johnson Group, Wood Group, ARS, and KMT Creative Group.
