The Pearl of Promise Award

DESCRIPTION

The Pearl of Promise will be presented to a senior female in high school who demonstrates a strong scholastic aptitude in science and math. The recipient must posses a defined career goal, be a positive influence among peers, and have strong leadership skills. The recipient will receive a $2500 scholarship.


CRITERIA

Recipients must meet each of the following criteria:

  • Must be a senior planning to graduate from a Hamilton County public, private, or home-school in 2010.
  • Must demonstrate a strong scholastic aptitude in math and science.
  • Must excel in subjects or have interest in fields in which women have traditionally been underrepresented such as one of the following:

Actuarial Science, Corporate Science, Computer Science, Systems Science.

Business Administration

Concentrations:

Accounting, Entrepreneurship, Finance, General Management, Human Resources Management, Industrial Management, Marketing.

Biology

Concentrations:

General Biology, Ecology, Molecular, Organismal, Preprofessional.

5.

Chemistry

6.

Computer Science

Concentrations:

Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Scientific Applications.

7.

Economics

8.

Engineering

Concentrations:

Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Management, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering.

9.

Industrial Technology Management

10.

Environmental Science

Concentrations:

Biology, Chemistry, Engineering Science, Geography, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Sociology, Anthropology.

Geology

Concentrations:

Geology, Environmental Geology.
