Volkswagen Chattanooga to Host Onsite MBA Program

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (27 March, 2012) — Volkswagen Chattanooga has announced an expansion of its onsite education program to offer Master of Business Administration courses through a partnership with the University of Tennessee Chattanooga beginning this fall.

The satellite degree program will be held at the Volkswagen Academy and instructed by professors of the UTC College of Business. It will be available to Volkswagen employees, the community at-large and any student currently enrolled in the degree program at the university.

“This is an exciting expansion of our education offerings here at the Volkswagen Academy,” said Hans-Herbert Jagla, EVP of Human Resources at Volkswagen Chattanooga. “A graduate-level degree program will perfectly complement our existing programs and the part-time evening structure will cater to working business professionals in our area.”

Each class will meet one evening per week in specialized classrooms equipped with high-speed internet and video conferencing. This class setup will provide real-time instruction and class interaction among university professors, Volkswagen Academy students and their on-campus peers.

“The UTC MBA at the Volkswagen Academy is part of an on-going relationship we are building with Volkswagen to increase access to our graduate programs and offer Volkswagen employees as well as employees of other companies in the area an opportunity to enhance their business management knowledge, and grow their careers,” said Dr. Robert Dooley, Dean of UTC College of Business.

The MBA curriculum will support the rapidly growing area surrounding the plant and will aid students in eastern Hamilton and Bradley counties who might prefer to attend classes closer to their jobs or home. It will follow the university’s existing 36-hour program, with most working students attending two classes per semester.
