A Catoosa County GA quilt shop, newly established in 2002, has been selected one of 10 "Editors Choice" quilt shops in the United States by American Patchwork & Quiltingâ magazine. Simply named Sew Bee It, the shop is being featured in the 2003 issue of "Quilt Sampler," an annual publication of Better Homes and Gardensâ special interest magazines, on newsstands right now.

"It’s been my mission to provide a gathering place where women can connect – through fabric and quilting - the past, present, and future," said Sew Bee It owner Pamela Ruiz. "I just didn’t expect it to go as well as it has so soon, but contribute its success to overwhelming community support." Sew Bee It opened just over a year ago.

Every year American Patchwork & Quiltingâ asks its readers to nominate their favorite quilt shop. Sew Bee It was one that got the nod, but that was only the beginning. Being notified that her shop had been nominated, Ruiz was invited to submit an entry packet, including 24 photographs and answers to six essay questions, to give the full picture of her store.

In the packet Ruiz says what distinguishes her shop from thousands of others is the ambiance and the way her quests are pampered. We acknowledge the comforts quilts provide in the lives of so many who spend a lifetime creating them only to give them away. Our shop says the quilter deserves a little TLC. It says the art is important and deserves nothing but the most exquisite fabric and dependable quality.

Sew Bee It is a quilter’s garden of warmth and charm. The shop sells cotton fabric, quilting supplies and teaches classes, the place where people can gather and connect to the past. Visit them Tuesday thru Saturday at 6103 Alabama Hwy. Ringgold, GA 706 937-9142 or online at Sew-Bee-It.com.
