Governor Phil Bredesen, County Executive Claude Ramsey, and Mayor Bob Corker were joined by community leaders last month in a groundbreaking event celebrating the infrastructure developments at Enterprise South Industrial Park.

“Many people have worked diligently for a number of years to make this concept a reality, and it truly is an economic milestone for Chattanooga and Hamilton County,” says Ramsey. “Enterprise South offers a number of premier industrial sites that we will use to attract new jobs to our area.”

A ceremony marking the official transfer of 280 additional acres to Enterprise South was held the previous day as former Governor Don Sundquist and U.S. Army officials were thanked for their strategic involvement in the process.

“Enterprise South now gives Chattanooga and Hamilton County more than 1,200 acres of land to draw new businesses and help stimulate the local economy,” says Mayor Corker. “Employment growth is the cornerstone of everything we do, and the partnerships formed in this venture show what can be accomplished when economic visions are shared.”

The Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce will lead the marketing effort to position Enterprise South as one of the top industrial sites in the country.

“Enterprise South is a key selling point for many of the industries we are targeting with our marketing efforts,” says Jay Garner, Chamber executive vice president and chief economic development officer. “It offers high-grade industrial acreage in parcel sizes that have been nearly impossible to find in the Chattanooga area until now. And as a result, we’re aggressively recruiting the types of companies that will bring with them the largest number of and highest-paying jobs for our community.”
