Power Share

Spring 2004

Chattanooga, TN. The EPB Warm Neighbors program, which has provided more than $762,000 to those in need over the past 20 years, has been renamed Power Share to emphasize that families and individuals need utility assistance year-round, not just during the winter months.

Power Share helps residents who need assistance to pay their utility bills due to unforeseen circumstances. It is solely funded by voluntary contributions from EPB customers and employees. In 2002, EPB customers contributed more than $30,000 to help over  3,850 local residents.

“The generosity of our customers’ participation in the Warm Neighbors program through the years has been overwhelming,” says Hosea Pierce, community relations specialist at EPB. “Their desire to give back to the community has inspired us to improve on that program and create Power Share, an initiative focusing on the needs of our community 365 days a year—not just during the cold winter months.”

All donated funds to Power Share are passed on to First Call for Help, an outreach program of the United Way that distributes 100 percent of contributed funds to local families.

By adding any amount from $1 to $10 on their electricity bills each month, EPB customers can participate in Power Share and help make a difference to families in our community.

If you would like to make a donation to Power Share, please contact the EPB at
