Hixson Goodwill Store Celebrates New Building Opening

Posted March 9, 2009

CHATTANOOGA,Tennessee -- Hixson Goodwill Store will open the doors of its new building at 1966 Northpoint Blvd. March 13. The Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce will assist with a ribbon cutting at 8:45 a.m.
For more than 80 years, the Chattanooga Goodwill Corporation has been in the business of helping people with disabilities and other disadvantages find employment. It funds its employment services, and all of its programs, through the funds generated by the sale of gently-used clothing and household items.
The 12,996-square-foot facility is nearly three times as large as its former location, just two doors down. The new facility also is sporting a “new and improved” donation center, located adjacent to the retail operations and allowing drive-up donation opportunities. Its larger retail area will include books, clothing for men, women and children, shoes, furniture, household items, toys, and jewelry.
Hixson Goodwill Store is one of 11 retail stores in a 23-county region in the Chattanooga Goodwill service area. This store, as all area Goodwill stores, is owned by Chattanooga Goodwill Industries. Chattanooga Goodwill is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization.

The store’s hours of operation are Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
