Chattanooga, TN (April 17, 2006) -- Chattanooga is featured in Southern Business and Development magazine as one the Top 10 Southern Mid-Markets with Highly Diverse Economies.

The winter 2006 issue reports that Chattanooga enjoys a "robust" food and beverage industry, as well as scores of "next generation manufacturing operations." Smart appliances, nanofibers, supersonic surveillance drones and medical devices are cited among the high-tech manufacturing enterprises.

The magazine notes that while the city has "ditched its dirty, smokestack, manufacturing past for a clean, white-collar business future," it also points out that Chattanooga has come full circle with its manufacturing past, as it seeks to locate an automaker at Enterprise South Industrial Park.
