Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce’s Millsaps Earns Elite Certification

Date: August 07, 2017

Chattanooga, Tenn. (Aug. 2, 2017) — Cheryl Millsaps, Vice President of Finance and Administration at the Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce, has been designated as a Certified Chamber Executive (CCE) by the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE). Alexandria, Virginia-based ACCE is an association of more than 7,500 chamber of commerce professionals, and 1,300 chambers of commerce, around the world.

“The CCE program focuses on core chamber management areas like management, planning and development, membership and communication, and operations,” said Bill Kilbride, President and CEO of the Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce. “This is the highest designation in the chamber profession, and Cheryl has earned this outstanding recognition through countless hours of dedication.”

Millsaps is one of nine chamber professionals to earn the Certified Chamber Executive designation in 2017. The nine leaders represent chambers of commerce in six states, including Alabama, Indiana, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia. Since ACCE conferred the first CCE designation more than 40 years ago, about 500 professionals have become certified. It’s the only globally-recognized certification program exclusive to the chamber of commerce industry.

Millsaps has served in her Vice President role at the Chattanooga Chamber since 2005. Prior to that position, she was Director of Accounting for the Chattanooga Chamber. She has served on the boards of the Principal Leadership Academy, Co.Lab and is a founding trustee of the Thrive Regional Partnership. In addition to IOM certification, Millsaps is a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and SHRM – Senior Certified Professional.

Certified Chamber Executives were recognized on stage July 18 at ACCE’s annual Awards Show, hosted this year in Nashville, Tennessee.

The Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce also earned the Chamber of the Year designation and other industry awards at the July 18 ceremony.
