CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee -- Kris Simmons, executive producer and CEO of Fire Eye Productions, Inc., is Carson-Newman College's Outstanding Young Alumnus for 2008-2009.

Each year the Alumni Association of Carson-Newman College seeks to recognize persons who, through exemplary personal achievement, service and leadership, are an inspiration to faculty, students, alumni and friends of the college.

Kris is among numerous Carson-Newman alumni who have brought honor to their alma mater through their accomplishments and their valuable contributions to society," said J. Randall O'Brien, president of Carson-Newman. "To recognize him in this manner is a highlight of our academic year." 

Simmons graduated magna cum laude from Carson-Newman in 2000 and started Fire Eye Productions, Inc. the same year. His business is now a leading video production agency, servicing Fortune 500 clients among other customers.

His commitment to his business has earned recognition for his achievements as a young entrepreneur. Four years after starting his own business, he was named Young Entrepreneur of the Year by the Tennessee District Office of the Small Business Administration. Other awards include numerous Advertising Federation awards and multiple International Videographer awards.

He is also a board member of the Digital Video Professionals Association and an active member of the Downtown Rotary Club and the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce. He lives in Hixson with his wife and four children.

Simmons will be honored at the college's alumni awards celebration on March 23-24 in Jefferson City, Tenn.
