CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee -- Expanding its global capabilities, Madem Group has successfully established its first U.S. operation in Chattanooga at 1312 East 42nd Street.

Madem Reels USA, Inc. will officially launch U.S. operations on Thursday, November 13, at 10:30 a.m. with a ribbon cutting ceremony at the plant.

The Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce is assisting with the ribbon cutting ceremonies.

Madem Group is the worldwide leading manufacturer of nailed wooden reels for electrical cable companies, producing four million reels a year.  With four production units in Brazil, one in Spain, Romania, Bahrain, and the U.S., Madem employs 1,000 people and manufactures and exports to over 40 countries.

In Chattanooga, Madem Reels USA represents a significant step in Madem Group’s aggressive global expansion strategy.  Production from Chattanooga operations will support domestic, international, and emerging market sales. 

Located in Jepco Industrial Park, Madem Reels USA’s facility encompasses more than 143,000 square-feet.  Beginning in 2007 with a workforce of 25 machine operators and material handlers, Madem has almost tripled in size in its first year alone.  In 2009, Madem Reels expects to add even more local jobs, effectively increasing Madem Group’s local presence in the Southeast.

Madem will also be aggressively opening warehouses around the U.S.  In the last 60 days, the company has opened warehousing centers in West Virginia and New Jersey.  In the next 30 days additional warehouses will open in Ohio, North Carolina, and Texas.  By 2010 Madem will have more than 10 warehouses and distribution centers around the U.S.
