Chattanooga, Tennessee -- The Chattanooga City Council has authorized matching funds for development of a $6 million advanced manufacturing training center at Enterprise South Industrial Park. The site will offer space for workers to be trained on machines for existing area manufacturers and for companies moving to Enterprise South. The city portion of the funding of the facility is not to exceed $750,000. The $750,000 county portion will be in the proposed budget for next fiscal year, which will be voted on in July. The state has provided a $1.5 million grant, and the remaining $3 million is being sought from other sources. Chattanooga State will operate the center, which will offer 25,000 square feet in its first phase with room for expansion. Officials hope the training center will be open by next summer. |
