Chattanooga is a "high" profile city in the August edition of US Airways Magazine, which features a 38-page segment on the Scenic City, covering everything from the 21st Century Waterfront Redevelopment to the Read House, from Moon Pies to UTC's SimCenter, from the Lookout Mountain Flight Park to the Tennessee Aquarium.
The coverage in the inflight magazine that reaches over three million business and leisure travelers each month also includes photography of the Hunter museum, the Walnut Street Bridgeand Bluff View -- all introduced by a stunning two-page panoramic view that captures a boat-flecked Tennessee River sweeping around downtown during Riverbend with Lookout Mountain as the backdrop.

Headlines in the piece call Chattanooga "one of the most livable cities in the South," a "re-energized river city" and a community that's "drawing attention and business."
"After US Airways Magazine contacted the Chamber about featuring Chattanooga in the August issue, we developed a partnership with the City and the County, the Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Chattanooga airport and the RiverCity Company," said J.Ed. Marston, Chamber vice president of marketing and communication. | "Together we worked with the magazine staff to develop stories that would highlight the city's strong assets in the areas of business, livability, the arts, health and the outdoors."
Chattanooga is one of only eight cities being profiled this year by US Airways Magazine. The Scenic City made the cut from a list of about 40 cities under consideration for profiles in 2007. Cities are chosen on such factors as aesthetics, city spirit and the pride residents take in their city, according to Steve Mitchem, the managing director of the profile series.
He said Chattanooga's "vibrant downtown" and "beautiful riverfront" helped give the community the edge over other communities under consideration.
"This kind of publicity is very rare,”Marston said. “We couldn’t be happier with the results.” |
