Posted May 2007

Chattanooga, Tennessee -- The Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce Red Bank Council raised some $10,000 during the annual Red Bank Jammin' Jubilee May 4 and 5, according to Council President Jana Lind. The funds will be used for scholarships for Red Bank High School seniors, community projects and developments, and business promotion in Red Bank.

"We're thrilled that the jubilee was such a success," Lind said. "People from all parts of Chattanooga, not just from Red Bank, support this event that is not only highly enjoyable but also an important fund-raiser for good causes."

Earlier this year the Red Bank Council held its 23rd Annual Distinguished Service Awards Luncheon which recognizes an Outstanding Business Person, Citizen, Educator, and Humanitarian.

"The purpose of the Outstanding Service Awards is to honor businesses and citizens in the Red Bank Community who have performed meritorious service above and beyond what would be expected of a citizen or business," Lind said. "Their extraordinary service to the community can be either through their regular vocation, through contributions outside their regular vocation, or a combination of both.

This year's awards were presented to: Richard Floyd, Outstanding Citizen of the Year. Floyd, a community and civic leader for over 30 years, now represents the 27th District in the Tennessee House of Representatives. Curtis Johnson, local director of marketing for BI-LO, Outstanding Business Person. Gail Chuy, Red Bank High School Principal, Outstanding Educator. Paul and Dana Stone, for their service to young people at White Oak Methodist Church, Outstanding Humanitarians.

The Red Bank Council meets the third Tuesday of each month at noon at New China Buffet 'N' Grill. 531 Signal Mountain Road, Suite 129. For more information about the Council, contact Jana Lind at AMBIANC@aol.com.
