2021 Public Policy Priorities
SUPPORT FOR VELOCITY 2040 and Chattanooga Climbs
In 2018 and 2019, the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce led efforts to produce a 20-year strategic plan (Velocity 2040) and a first-phase five-year strategic plan (Chattanooga Climbs). Our public policy agenda falls in line with these two initiatives and will help support metrics to fulfill these two missions. Where priorities fall in the two plans, they will be noted in this agenda.
Listed below are our top five legislative priorities for 2021, based on results from our annual Public Policy Survey:
Through collaboration with our partners, the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce leads our region's economic development and implements our community's comprehensive job creation strategy. Through public policy and advocacy, we will support the policies and projects that yield investment in Chattanooga/Hamilton County, as well as our region.
A highly motivated, well-trained workforce is critical to continued economic growth, prosperity, and enhanced quality of life. We recognize both the challenges and opportunities in today’s workplace, which is why we are committed to improving workforce quality through our public policy and advocacy efforts.
A robust, well-funded, and long-term infrastructure network is vital for economic growth. Through public policy and advocacy, we support local infrastructure projects that maintain and improve our ability to meet logistics needs of business in Chattanooga/Hamilton County both today and in the future.
Public safety is critical to our quality of life. We support legislation and policies that enhance public safety and foster an environment where business and our local economy will continue thrive.
The Chamber supports legislative and policy changes that reduce healthcare costs and provide additional access to affordable, quality health care.
