Database and Applications Specialist

The Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce is seeking a database and application specialist to join our IT department to oversee the health and lifecycle of key database applications and unstructured data. The position is primarily responsible for daily application monitoring, user training and adoption, and serving as Tier 2 application support for the Helpdesk. Additionally, the role will lead SharePoint-related projects and assist with the automation and integration of applications as needed.

In addition to top-notch technical skills in application administration and troubleshooting, the position requires a business IT professional with an eye for network security, a strong customer service focus, high attention to detail, proven documentation skills, and a reliable adherence to deadlines. The individual will also demonstrate the ability to anticipate needs, think critically, and propose solutions that fit within a nonprofit budget.

Essential Functions:

·       Applications and Services. Overseeing the health and lifecycle of all database applications and company information hosted on-premise and in the cloud, specifically MC Trade, incuTrack, and other primary LOB applications.

·       Training and Adoption. Leading or otherwise assisting with efforts to create and deliver training presentations, maintaining a list of basic IT training that all staff should receive, and assisting with IT-related content curation for the staff on LinkedIn Learning.

·       Application Compliance Oversight. Discovering and monitoring the use of third-party applications and assist the Helpdesk with migrating user content to supported applications for better oversight, control, and cost efficiencies

·       Automation & Workflows. Following best practices to assist with the integration of various applications where feasible, and employing widely used platforms like SharePoint, Azure AD, and Exchange to promote single sign-on (SSO). Properly documenting and streamlining common tasks using low-code services like Power Automate

·       Fostering productive relationships with SaaS and on-prem application vendors and serving as technical liaison with vendors to troubleshoot or otherwise address system-wide and user-specific issues and requests (report customizations, etc.)

·       Assist with developing a team of “technology champions” across all departments to decrease technical friction and drive the successful construction and ongoing maintenance plan of an intranet and various other SharePoint applications focused on automation and workflows, collaboration, and similar efforts to enhance the user experience

·       Special projects and other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

·       Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field with 2-5 years of experience demonstrating similar job duties at a small or midsize company, or equivalent combination of education and experience

·       Experience with Microsoft 365, Office 365, SharePoint, and modern workplace concepts

·       Broad working knowledge of computer networking, installation, and administration

·       Database and project management experience

·       Expertise in troubleshooting computer system issues

·       Strong organizational skills that reflect the ability to prioritize and multitask seamlessly

·       Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

·       Strong independent decision-making ability, leadership skills, and customer service ethic
